Hub leaders are the glue that holds a passionate community of bakers together! It doesn't take a ton of time (around 6-10 hours per month), but it is super important and very rewarding work.
This role is really about connection. Stepping into it doesn’t require special skills, just a willingness to show up for your community!
What do hub leaders do?
- If no food bank partnership exists yet, the hub leader, with support from the Community Loaves team, is the feet on the ground to find a food bank that is a good fit to partner with.
- Twice a month, on Sundays, they act as a collection point, typically at their home, for bakers in their hub to bring donations to. The following Monday, they bring those donations to the food bank that the hub is partnered with.
- Twice a month, they send cheerleading emails to hub members, highlighting the amounts donated, member milestones, and any feedback from the food bank.
- Once per quarter, they attend an online meeting with other hub leaders.
- As needed, they send welcome emails to new bakers that join the hub, and answer questions from hub members.
- Once or twice a year, they work with their associated food bank to schedule a food bank tour, and many also arrange other social events for hub members.
This may sound like a lot, but it doesn’t need to be a solo role! Co-leaders or shared responsibility make the work lighter and more fun. Many hands really do make light work.
Community Loaves also has a number of tools built into our website to help hub leaders do this important work. We will train you on how to use these tools during the hub leader meeting.
