All of our loaves and energy cookies freeze beautifully, allowing bakers to bake ahead and store items in the freezer prior to donating. But some wonder - how long can they keep in the freezer? The short answer is best quality is 2-3 months. Still edible up to six months.
The challenge is that it really depends on the freezer. Some freezers develop an ice cap on the bread. In those situations a double bag is helpful. Place the bread in our signature Community Loaves packaging, then place that inside a freezer bag or wrap it tightly to reduce air exposure.
But in many freezers single bags work just fine, there is no frost and the bread can last a fair bit. The freezer has to be consistently cold and not prone to ice buildup.
If it’s packaged well and frozen while fresh, sandwich bread freezes remarkably well.
